Happy September!
There was definitely a fall breeze this morning, although we’re enjoying a
sunny day here in Maine. Labor Day Weekend is upon us, and, as local tradition
goes, it’s the last of the summer season. But we will have other folks come and
visit us in the coming weeks. Known colloquially as ‘leaf-peepers,’ they’re
here to enjoy what can only be described as a breathtaking show.
My favorite season is fall. I absolutely love the colors – burnished gold, rich scarlet, mellow ochre, soft moss, and luscious purple. The trees put on a spectacular display, so why not take a cue from Mother Nature and dress up your own abode?
Spread
pumpkins and gourds around your kitchen, scatter real fallen leaves on a dining
table, and decorate with candles for a harvest glow. At a farmer’s market,
you’ll find decorative Indian corn with its party-colored kernels, as well as
rows of multi-tufted mums with their bright faces. Putter around and see what
you can find! The stores are brimming with fun decorations, but the best ones
are found right in your own backyard. The colors will liven and brighten your
home, conjuring cozy memories for you and your loved ones to share as we slip
into the colder months.
Sitting
out on the covered porch to enjoy the lazy days of autumn in one of our Windsor chairs
is a great way to witness the fall display. The Windsor chair was brought over
from England in the mid-1700s with the earliest Colonial settlers. A
comfortable, contoured seat, splayed legs, and the traditional spindle bow-back
are its timeless elements. For over two hundred years, Americans have crafted
these stately seats.
Whether, you’re the proud owner of one or a full set of eight, the Windsor chair is a timeless addition to a kitchen or dining room. Take a look at a Windsor chair, stool or bench and you’re sure to find one in black, or honey stain to complement your newly decorated autumn home!

Wonderful blog and beautiful furnishings! Keep up the great work!
