The weather has been unbelievable here in Maine for the last week or so. It even got up to the 60’s! I was chatting with a lovely lady the other day from Texas who said, "Is that warm? That sounds cold!" I laughed and had to inform her that 60 degrees in January is an anomaly! It is crazy – and we’re enjoying every minute of it.
It’s been really busy around here. The Winter catalog is proving irresistible, and I think it’s because we’re having a chair and stool sale! Our new take on our traditional saddle stool is being well received. They’re flying out of here so fast; it’s like a magic carpet whisks them away!
The sale covers every chair and stool we carry, from the old-fashioned Shaker inspired Ladderback, to our sleek, modern Cross Back. Pulled up next to my desk at home is an old Ladderback chair. They’re surprisingly comfortable, given the straight back. The Shakers designed these ingenious seats in order to be hung on peg racks during their weekly cleaning schedule. They can be hung straight flush on the wall, or even upside down! Take a look at this photo. Have you ever hung your chairs upside down?
My favorite stools that we carry are the Vintage Swivel Stools. I grew up with these, and they’re so fun to play with. I remember sitting on one as a little girl and spinning myself around and around as fast as I could! The rungs are fun to kick with little feet, too. Growing up, my mother would cut my hair. She would set up the stool in the kitchen, wrap a towel around my neck and snip away. Having an extra stool around is always handy!
Whether you’re looking for extra seating for entertaining, replacing an existing chair, or remodeling your home, the various shapes and sizes of our Chairs and Stools will fit in perfectly with your décor. The colonial stools look timeless and have been around for two centuries. The prices are great and won’t last forever! We can’t wait to hear from you, so call Sturbridge Yankee Workshop anytime.
