Maine Maple Syrup Celebration

Hello everyone! My name's John and I am the Operations Manager for SYW. I've lived in Maine my entire life and can't see myself ever moving. Maine has everything I need. I think the changing of the seasons might be on my top 5 list of reasons to live in Maine. The different weather puts a new backdrop to everything. The change cleanly marks the chapters in life.

We are getting ready for Winter to give way to Spring. Winter had a good grip this year, but, in her heart, I think Mother Nature is a Sox fan and she wants Fenway ready for home opening day - April 8th.

In Spain, every Summer brings the running of the bulls. In New England, Spring brings the running of the sap. With the warming weather, Maple trees are ready to provide their sweet nectar.

Have you ever been to a sugar shack? It's a blast. My cousins in Canada have one up in the woods. I went up a few years back. You make a trough with clean snow on a board, pour freshly boiled syrup on top, and whamo! Instant maple taffy. Can't be beat.

The 4th Sunday in March is always Maple Syrup Sunday in Maine. This year, that is March 23rd - Easter. Check out this link for all you need to know about Maple Syrup Sunday in Maine. If you are ready for a great cure for cabin fever, hop on 95, point north, and have a blast. It will be all the proof you need that life is sweet. Thanks for coming by...

John
