Happy New Year! No, we haven’t been sleeping over here at Sturbridge Yankee Workshop. Our lovely winter catalog is coming soon to a home near you, if you haven’t already received it. We have a wonderful chair and stool sale going on right now to ring in 2008! Take a look at the discounts, and it’s a great idea to call for availability and shipping times. We love hearing from you!
I stayed up and toasted to the New Year at midnight. My dog and I celebrated by staying indoors this year – it’s been storm after storm here in the Northeast. December was the third snowiest ever here in Portland, Maine! The front pages of our local newspapers report skiers and snowboarders gleefully flying down the slopes, plow trucks scraping up our driveways, and salt supplies running low. Welcome to winter in Maine!
I love January, though. This is the dawn of the year, a month of fresh starts to kick-off 365 brand-new days. Have you made your New Year’s resolution yet? It’s a popular thing to do this time of year, but hard to carry through the next twelve months! I think my New Year’s resolution is to indulge my inner ‘comfort queen.’ I love all the snugly quilts, sweaters, and socks this time of year. It’s the perfect time to share a cup of tea and plunge into those novels I got for Christmas. I’d also like to get into the kitchen and whip up a batch of comfort foods. Nothing like a bowl of chili inside when the wind-chill kicks in outside!
Serve up hot soup and rolls on our Country Stoneware, or gather the family on a wintry morning to host a Pancake Breakfast. The young miss in our Rolling Pin Print looks like Mommy’s little helper, and our French Rolling Pin is great for a piecrust. The Party Serving Set has a bowl that proclaims "It’s all good!" Hopefully, it is!
Oh, and if your New Year’s resolution is to resolutely watch your waist – you’re not alone. Health club memberships (on average) go up 30% in January! Whoa!
Have a Happy New Year!
